Florida Orange Forecast Reduced to 132 Million Boxes

March 9, 2007

The USDA today released their latest revised forecast for the 2006-2007 Florida citrus crop. The forecast was reduced by 8.0 million boxes, which will make this year’s crop about 11% less than last year, and the lowest production since the freeze plagued 1989-1990 season. The revision was made entirely within the early-midseason Navel oranges. The Valencia crop forecast remained unchanged, and is currently being harvested.
